Founded in 1951, the Monastic Family has received over the years the triple name of Bethlehem, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and Saint Bruno, expressive of its charism in the Church:
The name BETHLEHEM [link to bubble] signifies the Mystery of the Incarnation of the Son sent by the Father to save all men.
It evokes our vocation to adore the Word made flesh (cf. Jn 1:14), and to nourish ourselves with the Bread of the Word and the Eucharist, so as to be constantly reborn of the Father.
Like the Virgin Mary, silently adoring her Son in the stable of Bethlehem and welcoming the shepherds and Magi with St. Joseph, we offer those who knock on the monastery door a welcome that invites them to adore the thrice-holy God.

The name OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE VIRGIN [link to bubble] expresses
our call to share realistically in the grace of interior Assumption that was Mary’s throughout her earthly life,
her death of love
and her life of glory, from which she intercedes today for all mankind.

The name SAINT BRUNO [link to bubble] expresses the spiritual paternity received by each of the monks and nuns in anticipation of the Kingdom to come.
The branch of monks and the branch of nuns are distinct and have no canonical link with the Carthusian Order.
From Saint Bruno, we learn to encounter God both in the solitude of the cell and in the liturgical and fraternal communion of the community. [PDF link to Saint Bruno’s paternity, article Consecrated Lives]
